Gauss / Chaos — Randomized FX Chain Plugin

Hit Transmute.
Something will happen.

A randomized FX chain plugin for Pro Tools, VST3, and AU. Each press selects, orders, and configures a new signal chain from ten analog-modeled effects. No two are the same.

How it works

Ordered chaos.
Not random noise.

Most randomizers throw effects at the wall. Gauss / Chaos applies signal flow theory. What sounds like chaos follows rules you'd use yourself — you just wouldn't have thought of that combination.

01 — Tier ordering
Character before modulation. Always.
Saturation and dirt effects precede modulation. Modulation precedes space. Reverb is always last. The chain is random. The logic is not.
02 — Weighted probability
Not all effects are equally likely.
Each effect carries a probability weight. Adjacency rules prevent combinations that would only produce noise — Chorus into Phaser, BitCrusher into Tube Saturation.
03 — Per-effect bypass
Keep what works. Remove what doesn't.
Any effect in the active chain can be bypassed independently. Amber pilot light shows status. The chain continues around it.
04 — Destroy
A hard clipper on the output.
The VU needle tells you when you've gone too far. Drive the output into hard clipping. Watch the meter peg. You'll go too far. That's fine.
Effect pool

Ten effects.
Three to six per chain.

Each transmutation draws from the full pool, subject to tier rules and adjacency constraints.

Tube SaturationAnalog warmth, harmonic drive
BitCrusherSample rate & bit reduction

"I've been using it on everything. Drum room mics, background vocals, spot FX. It keeps suggesting things I wouldn't have reached for. That's the point."

About Gauss DSP

Named after Carl Friedrich Gauss.
Unit of magnetic flux density.

Gauss DSP makes audio tools for working engineers. Not for the plugin collection. Gauss / Chaos is the first instrument — a deliberate machine that finds combinations you wouldn't find yourself, built on signal flow logic that makes the results usable.
